Oxygen masks are devices that deliver oxygen from a storage tank to the lungs. They are mainly divided into medical and civil aviation categories, used in clinical treatment, high-altitude operations, high-altitude areas, and aviation safety. The main body is made of plastic, silicone, or rubber, covering the mouth, nose, or entire face. They are equipped with a nose clip, elastic band, and vents to ensure airtightness. Some masks have a cushioning pad at the contact surface with the face; the cushioning material may contain vinyl-terminated polydimethylsiloxane, liquid silicone, etc.
Medical oxygen masks include oxygen delivery masks, adjustable masks, and non-rebreathing masks. Some models are equipped with a nebulizer or oxygen concentration regulator, and oxygen delivery is achieved through a T-shaped three-way valve. Civil aviation masks connect to the cabin system via an oxygen supply tube and have an internal storage bag to temporarily store oxygen. They automatically deploy in case of cabin depressurization. When in use, the mask must be pulled down to trigger oxygen supply while maintaining normal breathing. Both types of masks must meet technical standards for sterility, pressure resistance, and leak prevention to ensure effective oxygen supply in emergencies. Oxygen masks are also used in scenarios such as hyperbaric oxygen chambers for sports recovery assistance and chronic disease management.
