A heat and moisture exchanger (#HME filter) captures heat and water vapor
from a patient's exhaled air, it then adds that heat and moisture to the patient's inspired air, providing humidification. It is one filter that combines bacterial and viral removal function and heat & moisture exchange. Connection is generally of 22M / 15F to 15M / 22F (adult and pediatric) and its moisture output works much better than the value that required by ISO specification (active humidifiers 30 mg H2O/L).
