Silicone urinary catheters are available in single-lumen, double-lumen, and triple-lumen types. A single-lumen catheter consists of a catheter, a drain cone-shaped inlet, and a valve plug; a double-lumen catheter consists of a catheter, a drain cone-shaped inlet, a valve plug, an inflation cone-shaped inlet, and a balloon.
Triple-lumen catheters have three lumens: a water inlet, a medication inlet, and a drainage inlet. They are primarily used for short-term indwelling catheterization, intravesical medication infusion, irrigation, and drainage. They are also available in adult and pediatric versions; the adult version is further divided into male and female versions.
